Kathryn Lu Caywood
Kathryn Lu Caywood, born Oct. 5, 1935, passed away peacefully on Jan. 25, 2010 taking her last breath with family by her side.
She was born to the late Lewis and Muriel (nee Deveny) Caywood and lived a full life in along with her late sister Lynda McDermott. Being a colorful spirit, with a thirst for life, she traveled down many paths.
She attended Lorain High School, Oberlin College of Commerce and Baldwin Wallace College for secretarial science. She then attended the FBI academy and became Lorain County's first female deputy sheriff. She also attended Stevens Modeling School and worked for many years doing modeling and runway for the David and Lee Agency. Other important accomplishments were working as the executive secretary at the Higbee Company, a travel agent for Svete Travel Bureau and an administrative secretary for the Greater Lorain Chamber of Commerce coordinating and teaching the princesses for the Lorain International Festival.
Katy definitely took great pride in all her work endeavors, however her greatest pride and joy was in being a mother. She wholeheartedly gave the greatest and most important parts of her life to raising her 6 children, Michael Lewis, Gregory Scott, Christine Lynn, Mark Douglas, David Richard and Julie Kay. She was supported and encouraged by her past husbands Eugene Pozega and Julius Urda.
Katy loved being a grandmother to her only granddaughter Nicole Lynn and a friend to her daughter-in-law Carol. Her children, granddaughter and daughter-in-law were her heart. In passing, she will continue to live on in their hearts. Her love, their greatest gift.
Additional loyal friends and relatives sharing in our loss are are Elly and Hugh, Julius Urda, Julie Grm, Julieann Urda, Marylou Valentin, the Moir family, Sean McDermott and family, Greg McDermott and family, Rick Kaczmarek and family, Lisa Kaczmarek and family, Charles and Shallia Engelburger.
