American Descendants of Michael Hassenpflug
Michael Hassenpflug
of Oberaula, Hesse-Cassell,Germany
was born November 26,1759.
He had
16 children by two wifes,
and died April
02, 1833.Three of the
16 children,Johannes Heinrich
Hassenpflug, Adam Heinrich Hassenpflug,and Elizabeth (Hassenpflug)
Angersbach,plus two grandsons,
Adam Heinrich Hassenpflug,and Johannes Hassenpflug,(sons of
Michael Hassenpflug
Jr.),came on the ship Oldenburg,June 17,1853 from
Bremen, Germany.They
settled
in Lorain County,Brownhelm
Twp, Ohio area.Two other
children of Michael Hassenpflug Sr, Anna
Elizabeth Hassenpflug and a daughter
whose
name is not
known,also came to the United
States,but their time
of
arrival and place
of settlement
has not been
determined. Anna Elizabeth Hassenpflug probably lived in the Lorain County area for her burial was in the Brownhelm
Cemetery. The daughter,whose given name is unknown,lived
in Cleveland after her marriage to a
Keischmidt.
Johannes Heinrich
Hassenpflug was born May 10,1800 and died October 10,1888. A farmer In Germany, "John
Henry" arrived in the United States at Baltimore, October 1,1835,
accompanied by his wife Anna Martha Duthe,who changed her last
name to Dute upon entering the USA,and
children Anton,Catherine and Elizabeth.The family settled
first in Amherst Township and in
1845 moved to Brownhelm Township.
Adam Heinrich Hassenpflug was born
October 18, 1808 and died May 11, 1891.A baker in
Germany,"Adam Henry" arrived in New York on the ship
"Washington" May 1846, 1846, accompanied by his wife Anna Catherine
Reisinger and children Anna Elizabeth,
George, Elizabeth and Wilhelm.The family went
directly from New York to a farm in Brownhelm Township.
Anna Elizabeth Hassenpflug, born in 1819, accompanied by
her husband Nicholas Angersbach, born in 1814, and their
two children Johann, born
in 1852, and Anna Elizabeth, Born
in 1853, arrived in New York, USA, from Bremen,
Germany on the ship "Oldenburg"June 17, 1853. With them were two
nephews, sons of her brother,Michael Hassenpflug, who married Elizabeth Koenig. Their
names were Adam
Heinrich Hassenpflug
and Johann Hassenpflug. Anna
Elizabeth Hassenpflug, born in1825, who was Michael
and Anna Elizabeth's younger sister also was
with them, according to the ship's passenger list.
They settled in the Lorain
County, Brownhelm Township, Ohio
area.
